Ok Right now- as you are about to read this how many other things are you also doing? How many screens are open on your computer, is the phone in your hand, are you texting, are you about to, are you half reading this as you listen to that conference call with yourself on mute, are you eating, drinking…are you…(please insert any number of things that maybe going on!)

Ha! See I caught you- in finely tuned and practiced 21^st century uber skill, (and occasionally maddening trend) of multi-tasking.  No shame and certainly no blame here- I have been seen balancing a cup of tea in one hand, a phone under my chin, whilst trying to negotiate feeding the dog, and answering the front door all at the same time! I know we all have our own eccentric version of this. Why you may well ask-  and the answer comes to me “BEACAUSE I CAN”.  Come on now how many of you have ever taken pride in just how much you can do at the same time? I know I am not alone in wearing the of “I cant it all done and then some” badge of honor!

As women, most of us are acclaimed multi-taskers in fact evolutionary biologists would say that we are wired that way- you know one hand stirring the pot, the other feeding the baby, a foot rocking another to sleep and an eye on the saber toothed tiger that wants us for dinner.  We are biologically designed to “see” the big picture, to be able to see all the things that need to be attended to right now- and to see how to do it now!  The upside of this is that I know many women who are incredible queens of manifestation- you are probably one of them!  And I know that with women like us on the planet, things are changing  because we are deciding that they need to

So when does skillful multi tasking start to become out of control, to feel more like manic madness than a pleasurable accomplishment?  When do we start to feel more like human doings than human beings? When do we hit the point when we get to the end of the day and all we have interacted with in any meaningful way is our TO DO list?  Just today I read an article in Forbes magazine that states that “Entrepreneurship is the New Women’s Movement”!  Women are quite literally leaving the corporate world and the world of working for others and setting up their own game- and many of these women are committed to a business that makes sense for all! For themselves, for their families, and for the world!  So we are a boom industry- and we are faced with the same innate challenge how do we not fall foul of the manic multi tasking? How do we build a sustainable life for ourselves knowing that changing the world starts with how we live our own lives?  If we are quite literally foaming at the mouth mad because of all that we have to do then how can we expect our world to be sane?

I don’t know about you but my last two years have felt like I was running from pillar to post- I don’t know if it was something in the air. 2012, or simply my own peculiar brand of madness- but I realized late last year that I could not and actually did not want to continue to feel like a hamster on a wheel.  I was done- and here I was out there in the world talking about feminine presence, about feeding ourselves, cultivating kindness- and yet in my own life I was exhausted!!  Have you ever had that feeling where you know that the game is up? Where you know you have to do it differently and yet you really have no way to know how to do it differently? Nose pushing up against the glass- but no sign of a window…well…

At the beginning of this year I sat in meditation and asked for guidance about what was and is most important for me to focus on this year: I received 4 words- that have quite literally been changing my life! The first one is PRESENCE.  Take time to slow down, breathe, stop and listen. Take time to BE here. Truly BE here. And from this place of BEing do. I have taken this deeply to heart and feel that there is such a nectar in the word- an invitation for each one of us to take the time to fuel ourselves from the PRESENCE within us.

I am delighted to let you know that I have an opening for another private practice intern in my Burlingame based practice.  This is an excellent opportunity for a mature, skilled, motivated intern who is passionate about building a thriving private practice that is filled with their ideal clients.

About 12 years ago I started the awesome journey to building my own private practice.  I was still very much honing my therapist skills, but truly wanted to build a business too-  As I began the journey I realized that I had NO IDEA how to do that! And at that point I could not find anyone who could really help me with this piece!  So I went about garnering and gathering as much information as I could about how to build a healing business- not just any business, but a business dedicated to helping others heal!

So after years of doing this I realized that I wanted to support other Therapists in this awesome, challenging and deeply rewarding journey! So in addition to providing clinical supervision to my interns I am also able to provide coaching and mentoring about the ins and outs of how to build a successful and fulfilling private practice.

As many of us know there is much more to have a successful business than simply being a gifted therapist. My experience in guiding and coaching Therapist is that many of us simply do not know how to speak about what we do, how to show the transformational value of our work, or to translate what we do into language that our prospective clients will understand. In addition we are usually not that well equipped in how to vision a business, with a plan, goals and definable actions steps- not mention a marketing plan that fits what our values and ethics are!

Having walked this path and having wished that I could find someone to hold my hand in the process I am committed to providing space in my practice to mentor others- to basically give you what I wished I could have had!

I just had the most amazing interview on the Inspiring  Women Summit with China Galland and Laura Simms about the Reemergence of the Durga archetype in our contemporary context.  The short version is that anger and OUT RAGE is to be expected given the state of our world and what is happening in particular to women and girls all over our ravaged planet. As you all know i just got back from my own journey to the Congo where i encountered deep rage and deep grief at what is still happening to all our sisters there.  What we are called to do with the OUT RAGE is take it inside ourselves in spiritual practice to transform it to love- and how do we do this you may cry!

Step one: Open your heart to the pain and suffering, rage and anger, simply let yourself feel it.

Step two: Know that whatever you are judging in the ones who are inflicting the pain also lives within you- very hard to accept- but know that we are all human and not separate.

Step three: Embrace that demonized aspect of yourself and feel the intense comapssion and love for the pain, alienation and fear this part feels. Breathe inside this aspect of you allow your heart to open

Step four: Feel your heart soften to come from a place of love and NOW take inspired fierce compassionate action.

8. Design ceremonies and rites of passage to honor initiatory turning points and important life events.
9. Learn to understand and apply the language of symbol, sound, geometry, movement, and creative expression to shape and communicate consciousness

10. Celebrate the sacred by finding and creating beauty all around you,  enliven your hearts and your communities

11. Heal core wounds that keep you living small and instead step into your radiance as an empowered Priestess

12. Gain the ability to track and shift group energy in leading your own groups, so you are more tuned-in to dynamics that could otherwise sabotage group processes.

13. Learn to follow your joy!  Practice spending more time cultivating those things that fill you will joy, energy and ecstasy!
